L de Lolita Lempicka

L de Lolita Lempicka was launched in 2006 and the fragrance was created by perfumer Maurice Roucel. The bottle was designed by Sylvie de France. From the perfume ad and the aquamarine, pebble heart shaped bottle with the golden net, this perfume reminds me a lot of the deep blue ocean and mermaids. Even though I have an affinity for mermaids, I'm not too fond of aquatic scent, which is why I steer clear from this perfume for years, thinking it as another harsh clean scent.  The only reason why I got this is because of the bottle, it's been discontinued for years and I wanted to get this before it's gone. So imagine my surprise when I first tried it on. Instead of being bombarded with screechy and sharp aquatic scent, I was left with a delicious oriental vanilla scent that conjures images of Christmas baking. I immediately regret not getting a full bottle of this years before it's been discontinued, lol. Top Notes Bitter orange,   Bergamot

Valentina Poudre by Valentino

Sensual and cozy perfumes are my signature scent and lately I've been really into soft powdery scents, one that's reminiscent of a nice smelling vintage face powder.

So far I've managed to find 2 perfumes that fits this category of scent. The first one is Narciso Rodriguez Poudree which I have tested before on a perfume counter at Sephora and the other one is Valentina Poudre by Valentino.

I have never tried out Valentina Poudre and decided to search for it. Since it was a limited edition that has now been discontinued, I could hardly find a miniature bottle for it, however I did managed to get a vial sample.

Top Notes
Powdery notes, Ambrette (Musk Mallow)

Middle Notes
Tuberose, Iris

Base Notes
Vanilla, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean

Valentina Poudre by Valentino is a floriental scent, a mix between floral and oriental, which happens to be my favourite perfume genre. This has a dusty, powdery iris scent, with a cozy vanilla, sandalwood drydown. A warm and tender scent, it's elegantly soft and subtle, providing comfort with an inviting aura.

Narciso Rodriquez Poudree and Valentina Poudre are both created by Aurelien Guichard, which might explain the similarities between the 2 of them. Though they are both soft and powdery, I find Valentina Poudre to be  much more sensual and Narciso Rodriquez Poudree to be a little bit more sharper especially at the opening. Both however are beautiful scents and if you love Hypnotic Poison, you'll probably love these too as they do bears some resemblance.
